Ingredients

Sauce:

  • 1 (6 Ounce) Can Tomato Paste
  • 1 (14.5 Ounce) Can  Tomato Sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons Dried Oregano
  • 2 Tablespoons  Italian Seasoning
  • 1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Freshly Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 Teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Kosher Salt

Crust:

  • 1 Packet Active Yeast
  • 3/4 Cup Warm Water
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon Sugar
  • 2 Cups Flour Of Choice, Fluffy: All-Purpose Flour Or Crisp: Bread Flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Dried Basil
  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil

Directions

  • In a medium-sized saucepan, mix all ingredients until well combined.
  • Heat over medium heat until it begins to bubble, stirring frequently.
  • Once the sauce begins to bubble, turn the sauce down to the lowest setting.  Allow to sit for at least 30 minutes.  While the sauce is sitting, make the crust.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, mix water and sugar.  Heat to 110 degrees F.
  • Add yeast, stir, and allow to sit for 10 minutes.  At the end of the 10 minutes, your yeast should look foamy like the picture.  If not, your yeast is bad; try again.
  • You can use either a stand mixer with a dough hook or simply a bowl and spoon to mix the dough.
  • Add flour, salt, garlic powder, and basil to your mixing bowl; stir to combine.
  • Add the yeast, all the liquid, and olive oil to the flour mixture.  Stir to combine.  The dough will be very sticky.
  • Slowly mix in the remaining flour.  If you have a stand mixer with a dough hook, mix well for about 2 minutes.  If you are using a bowl and spoon, stir until the dough comes together.
  • To a bowl, add about 2 to 3 tablespoons of olive oil.  Rotate the bowl to coat.  Transfer the dough to the bowl and roll to coat the dough in the oil.
  • Cover and allow to stand until the dough doubles, about 30 minutes.
  • Once the dough has doubled, gently punch the dough down.  Next, flip the dough out onto a floured surface and knead 2 to 3 times.
  • Spray a pizza pan with cooking spray.  Place the dough on the pan and shape the crust.
  • Drizzle some olive oil over the crust.  Use a brush to spread the oil evenly over the crust.
  • Next, use a fork to poke holes all over the center of the pizza to keep the dough from bubbling up in the oven.
  • Add desired toppings and bake in a 425 degrees F preheated oven for 13-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
  • Allow the pizza to rest at least 10 minutes before serving.
