Cherry Cheesecake Coffee Cake

Ingredients

  • 2-1/4 Cups All-Purpose Flour

  • 2/3 Cup Granulated Sugar

  • 2 teaspoons Lemon Zest

  • 3/4 Cup Cold Butter

  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt

  • 1 Egg

  • 3/4 Cup Sour Cream

  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

     

FILLING

  • 1 (8 Oz) Package Cream Cheese, softened

  • 1/4 Cup Granulated Sugar

  • 1 Egg

  • 1 Tablespoon Fresh Lemon Juice

  • 2 (21 Oz) Cans Cherry Pie Filling

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. 
  • Grease the bottom and sides of a 9" springform pan.
  • Combine flour, sugar and lemon zest in a large bowl. 
  • Cut in butter until crumbly. 
  • Remove 2/3 cup of this mixture and set aside.
  • Add baking soda, baking powder and salt to the remaining crumb mixture. 
  • Mix in egg, sour cream or yogurt and vanilla. Press into prepared pan.

FILLING

  • Empty one can of cherry pie filling into a strain.  Rinse off jelly so that only cherries are left.
  • In a small bowl, combine drained cherries with the other can of cherry pie filing.
  • Combine softened cream cheese, egg, lemon juice and sugar until well mixed. 
  • Pour over crust. 
  • Top with cherry pie filling. 
  • Sprinkle reserved crumb mixture over top.
  • Bake 50-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Cool completely.
